The Legal 500 has published the second edition of its GC Powerlist in the Iberian Peninsula, in which it recognises the work of over 100 in-house legal teams with presence in Spain and Portugal

Madrid, 1 June 2017.- The Legal 500 has published its second edition of the GC Powerlist in the Iberian Peninsula, in which it recognises the work of over 100 in-house legal teams with presence in Spain and Portugal. Andersen Tax & Legal has participated in the publication and presentation of this list.

The GC Powerlist: Iberia Teams, whose official presentation took place on 1 June at an event held in Madrid, identifies the in-house legal teams that stand out for the legal quality, excellence and innovation of their work in the Spanish and Portuguese markets. It is a guide that highlights the Spanish and Portuguese markets, for which The Legal 500 has carried out an independent investigation, which includes nominations, background research and interviews, and which has culminated in the publication of a list of the most outstanding teams.

During the presentation of the GC Powerlist: Iberia Teams in Madrid with the recognised lawyers, the Minister of Justice, Rafael Catalá, who closed the event, congratulated all those included in the guide and stressed that behind the recognition lies a great deal of work.

Jaime Olleros, Managing Partner of Andersen Tax & Legal in Spain, noted that in-house lawyers "are faced with a legal framework that is undergoing constant change and growing complexity, which requires them to take on greater shared responsibilities, in many cases, with firms". This is "an option," he added, "that is widely accepted in Spain thanks to the close cooperation between in-house lawyers and independent firms."

He also congratulated all those included in the ranking and expressed appreciation for the trust that in-house lawyers place in firms, which allows for successful partnerships. He also highlighted the value of the work of the legal advice teams with this initiative of The Legal 500, which Andersen Tax & Legal continues to support.

The Head of Research of the Client Intelligence Unit of The Legal 500, Dominic Williams, stressed that "legal advice teams are increasingly becoming an essential tool for the operation of the company's commercial management, while protecting it from legal and regulatory challenges. Spanish companies have suffered the pressure of the financial crisis, and it is precisely in this situation where we have seen the importance of in-house lawyers, who provide support at very difficult times and thus become the centre point of the companies of the future."
