Vicente Moret analyses the documents published by the European Commission that set out the European Union's (EU) strategic priorities in the digital domain

In February 2020, the Commission published several documents setting out the European Union's (EU) strategic priorities in the digital field. Together with the communication "Shaping Europe’s digital future”, the white paper on artificial intelligence and "A European strategy for data" announcement was also made. In addition, the European Industrial Strategy was added in March 2020.

These are important documents that establish the main lines of European policies in areas as important for the future of Europe as the digitisation of the economy, industrial policy or artificial intelligence. They will set the general lines for the development of European budgetary, regulatory and technological policies in the coming years and are part of another set of efforts in the digital domain, such as the Digital Europe 2021-2027 programme, which will mobilise more than 9.2 billion euros.
